Dennis Anderson, LCSW, CADC
Dennis Anderson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor who treats a broad range of clients, including those with depression or anxiety and pain management. However, his specialty is in the arena of treating individuals and families with substance abuse issues. In addition to this he facilitates groups for adolescent substance abusers, as well as women and men with substance abuse issues and the partners of and adult children of substance abusers. Dennis believes that the mind heart and spirit are affected and diminished with substance abuse .
His approach to his clinical work utilizes a solution-focused cognitive behavioral model of therapy, that believes in safety and coping is the root of personal change but, also psychotherapy is sold short if it is merely about “coping” with life: He promotes thriving, not merely surviving, and thriving to our fullest potential, this is accomplished through engaging in dialogue and action, with an uncontrived and personal experience in therapy. Dennis earned his Masters of Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a special focus of study in Marriage and Family Therapy. Prior to his work at Mequon Clinical Associates, Dennis worked at Columbia St. Mary's assisting individual and couples with improving their lives. His primary focus of therapy has been with the treatment of adolescent substance abuse and their family. Dennis incorporates frank substantive information with the wisdom that the human condition is about being joyful with appreciation for self and life.. His involvement and support of Women For Sobriety confirms that through empowerment people can become more capable, competent caring and compassionate.
