Jeffrey Earle Taxman, M.D.

As owner and Medical Director of Mequon Clinical Associates, Dr. Taxman welcomes you to our center of excellence for mental health.

Dr. Taxman is a Psychiatrist and trained Psychoanalyst. His passion is psychotherapy, developing a unique treatment plan for each patient based on their strengths and needs. Dr. Taxman works with patients age 16 and older.

His clinical philosophy:

“Patients often don’t know what the “real“or core problem is. They don’t know the solution, or they wouldn’t be in my office. Yet, the patient is the only one that actually has the answers. My job is to help them find the real problems and their best solutions…not unlike an experienced guide on a mountain path. This approach demands an initial position of humility and respect on the therapist’s part.”

In addition to his private practice in Mequon, Wisconsin, Dr. Taxman is an Associate Clinical Faculty member of the Medical College of Wisconsin, Department of Psychiatry where he teaches theory and clinical technique to psychiatry residents. He also teaches advanced theory and technique to advanced students in China via internet classes and supervision.

Dr. Taxman has been a pioneer in his field throughout his career:

In the mid-80’s he advanced psychotherapy for HIV and AIDS patients, co-creating a full spectrum clinic (medical+ psychosocial), and helped structure and expand the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin.
For the past twenty years he has developed an internationally recognized expertise in providing relief during massive community disasters, working extensively with professionals who are required to continue to work in the midst of these disasters. He has worked with police officers, military, Federal Law Enforcement Officers, and first responders in the US, China, Haiti, Jordan, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.
Currently, Dr. Taxman has incorporated cutting-edge, FDA approved therapy for Treatment Resistant Depression (TRD) at MCA. He offers Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, as well as Spravato (esketamine) for TRD. Both treatments have provided excellent results. We are the only clinic in Wisconsin to offer both treatments!

After receiving a B.A. from Brandeis University, Dr. Taxman completed medical school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Medical School. He did a Flexible (medical) internship at St. Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee before completing a psychiatry residency at Cornell University-New York Hospital-Westchester Division in Westchester, New York. Dr. Taxman completed psychoanalytic training at the Chicago Institute of Psychoanalysis.

He is Board Certified in Psychiatry and Neurology.

Dr. Taxman’s warm, caring, and empathic manner, while maintaining rigorous, highly developed techniques, offers each of his patients a unique, optimized plan to feel and function better in their lives.
